Today, the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) announced the appointment of Nancy Anderson Speight as the Regional Director for the Atlanta Regional Office.
Ms. Speight has been the Associate to the Deputy General Counsel for Representation Cases and Program Evaluation in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Prior to that, she served in several positions in the OGC in which she managed regional operations. She also has been a supervisor in the Washington Regional Office and the Resident Officer of the former Norfolk Sub-office. Ms. Speight began her career in the Federal service with the Labor-Management Services Administration, U.S. Department of Labor and joined the FLRA upon its inception. Ms. Speight received her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree from Pennsylvania State University.
As the Atlanta Regional Director, Ms. Speight is responsible for providing leadership and management of personnel and operations relating to the investigation, analysis, resolution, and litigation of unfair labor practice cases and the processing of representation petitions for cases arising in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FLRA is an independent agency that administers the labor-management relations program for 1.9 million non-Postal Service Federal employees world-wide, approximately 1.1 million of whom are exclusively represented in 2,200 bargaining units. The Office of the General Counsel is the independent investigative and prosecutorial component of the Federal Labor Relations Authority which processes unfair labor practice charges and representation petitions through the Regional Offices, and assists parties in improving their labor-management relationship. The General Counsel directs the FLRA's seven Regional Offices located in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
