FLRA INVITES COMMENTS ON
REPRESENTATION ISSUES

The Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) is inviting comments from its customers on significant representation issues arising in Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Supply Center, Columbus, Ohio, Case No. WA-RP-60071, currently pending before the Authority. The Authority has directed the parties in the case to file briefs to address certain novel issues. The Authority is also, through a notice published in today's Federal Register, soliciting comments from interested parties.

The pending case requires the Authority to resolve a representation dispute arising from an agency reorganization where two different unions claim to represent a group of employees. The employees were geographically relocated from one activity to another and the positions they hold are specifically excluded from the unit represented by their original union and included in the unit represented by the second union.

Anyone interested in providing comments is asked to answer a series of specific questions which are set out in a "Notice of Opportunity to Submit Amici Curiae Briefs" appearing in today's Federal Register. Briefs must be filed by 5 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 1997. For additional information, contact Edward F. Bachman, Acting Director, Case Control Office at (202) 482-6540.
