GENERAL COUNSEL TO HOLD TOWN
HALL MEETING IN ANCHORAGE

The FLRA's General Counsel, Joe Swerdzewski, will hold a town hall meeting in Anchorage, Alaska on September 22, 1998. The meeting is intended to provide information regarding the policies and guidance issued by the General Counsel. In addition, participants will have a chance to speak with the General Counsel and members of his staff and suggest ways to improve the quality of OGC services.

"Town hall meetings have proven to be an effective way for the Office of General Counsel to provide information to the Federal agencies, Federal employees, and organizations representing Federal employees about how we operate and any changes that we may be contemplating," said General Counsel Swerdzewski. "Talking directly to our customers helps us ensure that we are effectively meeting their needs, especially in today's era of rapid change."

The Office of the General Counsel is the independent investigative and prosecutorial component of the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) that investigates and settles or prosecutes unfair labor practice charges. The General Counsel also periodically issues guidance to the FLRA's Regional Directors on the parties' legal rights and duties in the context of resolving unfair labor practice charges.

The round table discussion with General Counsel Swerdzewski and his staff will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 1998, at Z.J. Loussac Public Library, Public Conference Room, 36th and Danali Streets, Anchorage, Alaska. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and will end at 3 p.m. Any questions about the meeting should be directed to Jerry Cole, Director of the FLRA's San Francisco Regional Office, at (415)-356-5002 ex. 20.
