IRS e-file Information for Software Developers: Exempt Organizations
The Service is pleased to announce that the IRS e-file Exempt Organization Tax Schemas for the 2003 tax year are now available. These include schemas for Forms 990 and 990-EZ (including Schedules A and B), Form 1120-POL and Form 8868. Also available are the following:

  • Business Rules for tax year 2003;
  • Publications and Users Guides; and
  • Schemas, business rules, and production releases for the 2003 tax year.

Undistributed Income of Split Interest Trusts
The IRS issued guidance announcing that it intends to modify regulations on the tax treatment to private foundations of undistributed income of split income trusts.

Plain-Language Publications and Voluntary Compliance Programs
The Service invites you to submit comments and suggestions on programs for outreach to, and education of, exempt organizations.  Ideas on design and content of our Internet web page and plain language publications would be particularly appreciated.
