Robert Bennett (U.S. Senate, R-UT)

Robert Bennett was elected to the Senate in 1992 and is currently serving his second term. In the 108th Congress, he serves on the Senate Interior Appropriations Committee and as Chief Deputy Republican Whip, an important role in advising the Senate leadership. He is the chairman of the Joint Economic Committee and holds the number two Republican post on the Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs Committee. As a former time management consultant for business executives with an interest in the technology industry, Bennett also serves on the Senate Governmental Affairs and Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committees. He is from Salt Lake City, graduated from the University of Utah (where he was student body president) with a B.S. in Political Science, and previously worked as a White House adviser to President Nixon.
