Teresa Lozano Long (Austin, TX)

Teresa Lozano Long is an educator and arts patron. Her family's Long Foundation supports numerous Texas cultural and educational organizations, including major support for the construction of a new performing arts center in Austin and the University of Texas Institute for Latin American Studies (now named after Ms. Long). The foundation also recently established an endowment dedicated to benefiting Texas Hispanic youth in cooperation with America's Promise, the organization founded after the 1997 Presidents' Summit for America's Future that challenged the country to make children and youth a national priority, with Secretary of State Colin Powell as its founding chairman. As an active supporter of the arts and education in Austin and Texas, Ms. Long currently serves as a board member of Ballet Austin, the Interscholastic League Foundation, the University of Texas Chancellor's Council, Austin College (Sherman, TX), and the Texas Committee for the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Her past board memberships include the Austin Lyric Opera, Umlauf Sculpture Museum, Austin Community Foundation, Austin Urban League, Laguna Gloria Art Museum, and the Austin Volunteer Council.

Ms. Long received her Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Previously, she was a consultant for the U.S. Office of Education on Migrant Education and the Head Start Program, and a research associate for the Texas Governor's Committee on Public School Education and the Texas Education Agency.
