Maribeth Walton McGinley (Glendale, CA)

Maribeth McGinley is an art director and designer and an independent businesswoman. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration (1981) from Pasadena's Art Center College of Design and has dedicated her personal and professional life to the arts. In addition to her painting and design background, she also studied piano for nine years and theater arts for six years. In 1981, she was the recipient of the Grand Award for the Los Angeles Bicentennial Design Competition. She was the first art instructor at Kidspace: a Participatory Museum, where she developed and implemented a hands-on art program for third-grade students in the Pasadena Unified School District. In 1983, she received two Gold Records for Art Direction for the albums Return of the Jedi and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Six years ago, Ms. McGinley was asked by Art Center to lead a task force to reestablish the alumni association; a year later, she was unanimously elected to serve as the first president of Art Center's new alumni board. Since 1997, she has been President of M. Walton McGinley Design, a graphic design studio that develops products, packaging, and identity for the entertainment industry. With over two decades of design expertise, her clients have included The Disney Store, Walt Disney Art Classics, The Disney Catalog, Mattel Toys, 7UP/RC Bottling Company, Warner Bros., and The Brass Key. Last year, her firm created the conceptual development for the Alumni Veterans' Memorial at Pepperdine University in Malibu. Presently, she is a member of the California Art Club, the Finance Committee of the Best Friends Foundation of the Pasadena Unified School District, and the board of trustees of the Los Angeles Arboretum.
