Unix Systems (EOS)

The NIH Computer Center Unix-based application hosting service provides an efficient, reliable and economical computing environment.

Platform

The Unix environment (more than 70 servers referred to as EOS) is appropriate for any important Unix-based application and has specific capabilities for applications that use Oracle databases.

Operating Systems—Tru64 UNIX, Sun Solaris

Databases—Oracle

Programming Languages—C, C++, Perl, Standard Unix programming tools

Scripting Languages—Korn Shell, Bourne Shell, Perl, Tcl/Tk

Other Facilities

Disaster recovery

Security

The EOS systems are validated for HHS level 3 compliance (i.e., suitable for critical applications and highly sensitive data). For further information, see security.
