Immigration and Naturalization Service
Newark District
Would You Like to Step into INS?
The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) is a component
agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. By enforcing immigration
laws, INS helps provide selective and controlled immigration into our
country, be it visitors, business travelers or other non-U.S.
citizens. For those who adopt the United States as their country,
INS educates them about their privileges as residents or citizens.
The INS is also tasked with defending our international land borders
and ports of entry against illegal immigration and drug smugglers.
Would you like to be a part of this team by working full or part
time? We welcome students who are U.S. citizens and are currently
enrolled with at least a half-time academic course load towards a
degree or diploma.
You will never have a dull moment receiving phone calls or
visitors, answering their inquiries relating to the activities of the
branch, and preparing letters and reports - all while gaining a wealth
of information concerning INS rules and regulations. Best of all, you
will get paid about $8 to $10 per hour.
INS can be a stepping stone to a Federal career - when you
graduate, the agency may non-competitively convert you to a full time
position if available.
