  • Establishes the most efficient waterfront maintenance enterprise,
  • Improves quality of ship alterations and maintenance plans and facilities,
  • Maintains manning and workload of entire naval ship repair industrial base,
  • Reduces total cost and schedules of Life Cycle Management of all ships,
  • Fully integrates ship maintenance and modernization teams under standardized control of NAVSEA Directorate SEA 04
  • Compass and Stabilized Attitude Heading Systems
NAVSEA's idea was to develop a compass system with a stabilized attitude heading system to ensure accuracy of navigational tools. Our goal was to eliminate the need for discrete and lengthy calibration procedures and allow for more efficient and cost-effective operation.
    Gasket for Watertight Closures
NAVSEA has developed a long service life gasket for watertight doors. Our goal was to reduce installation time; enhance ship survivability with significant cost savings.
    Cardiac Fibrillation and Epileptiform
NAVSEA's goal is to apply Chaos Technology and models to automatically sense and regulate erratic or destructive motor and sympathetic nerve impulses in biological entities.
HSLA-6 Steel for Structural Weight Reduction
NAVSEA's idea is to replace Higher Strength ABS Grade DH-36 Steel With HSLA-65 Steel for Structural Weight Reduction.
High Performance Metal Fiber Brushes for Motors and Generators
NAVSEA's goal is to develop high performance motor and generator brushes which do not interact with other substances (i.e., oil and silicon vapor).
NAVSEA Delivers MACHALTs to the Fleet
NAVSEA coordinated more than 900 Machinery Alterations (MACHALTs)on the West Coast alone during FY 00, reducing total costs by more than $3 million. After 18 years, the MACHALT program has delivered thousands of affordable shipboard upgrades by providing "ready-to-install full logistics kits" for Ship's Force or SIMA installation.
    NAVSEA Advances Oil Services
Self-Cleaning Lube Oil Strainer reduces work and cost. Automated Oil Analysis saves money and engines.
    Advancing Safety for the Fleet
Wearable Fire Fighting Ensemble (WFFE) improves safety. Shipboard Automatic Chemical Agent Detector and Alarm (Ship ACADA).
