UN SECURITY COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP
Question: Does the United States support Germany becoming a permanent member of the UN Security Council?
Answer: We remain open to recommendations on reform of the UN Security Council. The chief test of such reform is whether it increases the Council's effectiveness. When this matter is up for consideration, we will act constructively to ensure an effective Security Council.
