NMCB 133 Detail Deploys to Afghanistan

December 6, 2001 - GUAM (NNS) -- Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, currently deployed to Guam, was activated in support of Operation Enduring Freedom Nov 22. The battalion halted construction projects on Guam to prepare for deployment to Afghanistan to support 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

The battalion began all-hands, around-the-clock operations selecting, packing and loading equipment and materials to sustain the detail for the duration of its mission.

Seabee battalions have various capabilities, including rapid runway and road repair; water-well drilling, operation and maintenance; communications and telecommunications; anti-terrorism and base security and defense; and construction and convoy operations.

They have a variety of weapons available are trained in the efficient use of each.

NMCB 133 personnel received medical and dental care, had records reviewed and updated as needed, and received a new uniform issue throughout the week; they also took time to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal at the camp galley before completing additional pre-deployment training.
