INTRODUCTION

The EAC is organized to provide the highest quality and most up-to-date educational advising services possible. The EAC and facilities will be open to the general public for an orientation session and library services, four hours per week. The EAC will, however, concentrate its efforts on students in Nigeria who have the academic qualifications and financial resources prerequisite for studying in the United States. These members will complete a $10 (or Naira equivalent) application form, meet with a counselor and if approved, will pay $200 or the Naira equivalent (about the average cost of a Standardized Test) as membership fee. EAC members will have priority access to facilities and staff.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Application Forms will be available to students who are interested in becoming members of the EAC and receiving personal attention in identifying and applying to schools in the United States. The EAC application forms will be handed out to potential members at a cost of $10 (or Naira equivalent) each.

Each potential member who completes an application form will be assessed by a counselor who will inform them frankly about the chances of getting into a tertiary institution in the United States. If the client is qualified under the basic rules at higher institutions for foreign applicants to attend schools in the U.S., they will have the option of becoming an EAC member and will pay a yearly fee of $200 or the Naira equivalent.

These clients will receive a photo identification card, have access to a counselor and all of the facilities available at EAC we feel are necessary in the process of identifying appropriate institutions. The facilities available at EAC include the Library, Technology Center, Tutorial Materials, Contacts, E-mail and Videos to ensure the best possible chance of finding and getting admitted into the most appropriate institutions in the United States. The counselor will assist the client in finding and applying for an appropriate school, taking the necessary tests and understanding what life will be like in a new environment and culture. Clients will as well attend members only orientation sessions which cover detailed information about Preparing to Study in the United States, Counseling on the Visa Process and a Pre-Departure Session. Members have access to EAC services every weekday except Wednesdays and Nigerian and American holidays.

EAC has opened several independent study centers. Members who are not resident in the city where our centers are located can use the resources available at these centers.
