    This poster will be available for the November 1999 celebration of American Indian Heritage Month.

1998

    The theme of this poster is "American Indians: Then and Now."  It reflects American Indian heritage from the earliest times to the present.  Symbols include the buffalo, Kokopeli, the Indian on horseback, the eagle, the planet earth, the space shuttle, orbiting space station, and atomic energy.  American Indians have played and are playing a significant role in the history of the United States and the world.  The left side of the poster shows pictures and representations of "then" and "now" American Indians, Sacajawea (Shoshone), Geronimo (Apache), Chief Joseph (Nez Perce), Charles Curtis (Kaw), US Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (Northern Cheyenne), and Astronaut/Lt. Commander John B. Herrington.
