The
Remote Sensing Tutorial*
See what you can learn from sensors on spacecraft
that look inward at the Earth and outward at the planets,
the galaxies and going back in time, the cosmos. Everything
you would want to know about remote sensing, including
concepts, images, history and articles.
The
Adventure of Echo the Bat (Grades 5-8)*
The "Adventure of Echo the Bat" is an interactive
adventure that brings together content relating to
Biodiversity, Ecology, Remote Sensing, and the Electromagnetic
Spectrum with supporting classroom activities. These
activities introduce concepts basic to the understanding
of remote sensing, including light and the electromagnetic
spectrum. The Teacher's Guide contains classroom activities
and lesson plans that provide a structure to integrate
the interactive adventure into the classroom.
Geomorphology
from Space (Grades 9-12)*
The bulk of the images at this site were taken by
the Multispectral Scanner (MSS) on Landsats 1, 2,
and 3, the Return Beam Vidicon (RBV) on Landsat 3,
and the Thematic Mapper (TM) on Landsats 4 and 5.
The site is a gallery of space imagery consisting
of 237 Plates,3 each treating some geographic region
where a particular landform theme is exemplified.
The gallery is arranged according to geomorphic theme:
(1) Tectonic (Structural), (2) Volcanic, (3) Fluvial,
(4) Delta, (5) Coastal, (6) Karst and Lakes, (7) Eolian,
(8) Glacial, and (9) Planetary Landforms. This is
one of the most impressive collections of remote sensing
images on the web today.
