Air and Marine Operations

image of AMO PilotICE Air and Marine crews are law enforcement officers who receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. ICE Pilots are experienced aviators who must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of flight time. Marine Enforcement Officers operate high-performance boats, while Aviation Enforcement Officers utilize sophisticated sensor equipment. These officers coordinate tactical operations and support criminal investigations.

Detection Systems Specialists (DSS) are primarily responsible for monitoring ground-based and airborne detection systems. Using the latest in radar and sensor detection equipment, the DSS is able to acquire, track and alert ICE crews of suspicious aircraft and vessels for identification. Although the typical DSS generally has prior experience as a military or civil air controller, once hired by ICE he/she must complete a radar training program.
