For Citizens Surplus Federal Property

GSA helps federal agencies dispose of unneeded property.  The agency that owns the property declares the property “excess” and refers it to GSA for governmentwide screening.  GSA offers the property to other federal agencies first, then to states, and finally to nonfederal public agencies and private, nonprofit organizations, and institutions.  If the property is not needed by any of these groups, the property can be sold to the public.

The GSA Auctions® e-tool on the right has been developed to offer the general public the opportunity to bid electronically on many federal assets. The auctions are completely web-enabled, allowing all registered participants to bid on a single item or multiple items (lots) within specified timeframes.  For other methods of sale, click here to find out more about Surplus Personal Property Sales.

GSA offers the sale of excess federal real property to the public.  The Real Estate Disposal e-Tool on the right gives instructions on how to bid on properties.

GSA also sells vehicles to the public. GSA Fleet vehicles range from compact sedans, pickup trucks, and passenger vans to buses and large trucks. These vehicles are serviced regularly and kept in top condition. GSA holds public auctions across the nation year-round.  The GSA AutoAuctions®website offers the make, model, year, and even the color of the vehicle citizens are looking for.  Find out when and where that exact vehicle will be auctioned by clicking on the AutoAuctions® e-Tool.

The Computers for Learning program places computers in classrooms to prepare children to contribute to and compete in the 21st century.  Schools and educational nonprofit organizations are eligible for this program.
