HHS
Secretary Tommy G. Thompson today announced four grants totaling
more than
$2.88 million to upgrade buildings and equipment at a research
facility and hospitals in Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina
and Pennsylvania.
The
grants from the Health Care and Other Facilities program,
administered by HHS’ Health Resources and Services Administration,
provide construction and renovation assistance to health facilities.
The four grants go to:
- Roseland
Community Hospital, Chicago, Ill., $836,190 for construction
and movable equipment needed to expand the existing emergency
department;
- Englewood
Hospital and Medical Center, Englewood, N.J., $481,060 for
a cardiac digital imaging system and table and an electrophysiologic
mapping system to detect cardiac rhythm disorders;
- Wake
Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C.,
$679,780 to complete construction of laboratory and other
space at the Center for Research in Human Nutrition and
Chronic Disease Prevention; and
- Temple
University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., $885,380 to buy
moveable equipment to be used in three outpatient facilities
on campus.
