The Emergency Medical Services for Children
(EMSC) Program, supported by HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health
Bureau, will sponsor the Third National Congress on Childhood
Emergencies April 15-17 in Dallas, Texas.
The conference, titled Taking Action
Saving Lives, will examine the nation’s system of pediatric
emergency care, focusing on patient safety and quality improvement,
prehospital and emergency department care, injury and violence
prevention, and disaster preparedness.
Sessions also are scheduled on emergency department overcrowding,
access to care, bioterrorism and the latest research in pediatric
emergencies.
The EMSC National Congress occurs every
two years and is nationally known as the leading conference
on pediatric and adolescent emergency issues.
Participants include physicians, nurses, emergency medical
technicians, paramedics, hospital and EMS administrators, health
advocates and consumer representatives.
National Heroes’ Awards will also be distributed at the conference.
Since 1998, HRSA has recognized outstanding achievement
in EMS for children by honoring top-performing individuals,
state teams and organizations with these awards.
HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau established the EMSC
National Heroes Award Program.
