HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson recently
appointed five new members to the National Advisory Council
on Nurse Education and Practice.
Thompson appointed to the council for three-year
terms:

F.A.A.N, Cedars-Sinai Health System and Research Institute,
Los Angeles, Calif.;

Christina R. Esperat, Ph.D., R.N., School of Nursing, Texas
Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas;

Linda
Norman, D.S.N., R.N., School of Nursing, Vanderbilt University,
Nashville, Tenn.;

Angella
J. Olden, M.S., R.N., The Johns Hopkins University Hospital,
Baltimore, Md.; and

Kathleen
Potempa, D.N.Sc., R.N., School of Nursing, Oregon Health
Sciences University, Portland, Ore.
The council advises and makes recommendations
to the Secretary and Congress on policy regarding Public Health
Service Act Title VIII, including nurse workforce, education
and practice improvement issues.
It also may make specific recommendations on HRSA=s
Bureau of Health Professions=
Division of Nursing programs.
