UNITED STATES SENTENCING COMMISSION

INFORMATION CONCERNING DATES AND TIMES FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS AND DEADLINES FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AND WITNESS TESTIMONY

DATES: Written Public Comment. — Written public comment regarding the amendments set forth in this notice, including public comment regarding retroactive application of any of these proposed amendments, should be received by the Commission not later than March 19, 2002. Written public comment regarding retroactivity of proposed amendments set forth in the November 27, 2001, Federal Register notice (See 66 Fed. Reg. 59295) should be received by the Commission not later than March 4, 2002.

Public Hearings.— The Commission plans to hold three public hearings on its proposed amendments, one on each of the following days: February 25, 2002; February 26, 2002; and March 19, 2002. The tentative times for the hearings are as follows: 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on February 25, 2002; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on February 26, 2002; and 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on March 19, 2002. Witnesses at the first two hearings will be invited to testify by the Commission on issues specified by the Commission prior to the hearings. A person who wishes to testify at the third hearing, the subject of which may include any of the proposed amendments, should notify Michael Courlander, at (202) 502-4500, not later than March 9, 2002. Written testimony must be received by the Commission not later than March 9, 2002. Timely submission of written testimony is required for testifying at the public hearing. The Commission requests that, to the extent practicable, commentators submit an electronic version of the comment and of the testimony for the relevant public hearing. The Commission also reserves the right to select persons to testify at any of the hearings and to structure the hearings as the Commission considers appropriate and the schedule permits.
