HISTORY In 1951, as a result of lessons learned from World War II, the Navy Ship Scheduling Activity was established to support the Bureau of Ships in the acquisition process. The organization was to serve as the central activity to:

MISSION To support the Navy in the execution of shipbuilding
and major weapons acquisition programs. Provide technical, engineering, and logistic
services to the Fleet in support of ship maintenance, alteration and repair programs.
Furnish comprehensive analyses of industrial base capability for shipbuilding and repair
programs and for HM&E and Combat Systems equipment. Provide acquisition planning for
ships, major systems and components. |
