Health Information for Travelers to Central America. The Centers for Disease Control provide information on diseases in the area, as well as recommended vaccinations.

Malaria Risk. Malaria is a serious disease transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito and can be found in the rural areas of all Central American nations.

Recent Outbreaks - Mexico. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating an outbreak of acute febrile respiratory illness among U.S. travelers returning from Acapulco, Mexico, during March. At this time, information has revealed that most illnesses occurred among American college students on spring break in Acapulco during the month of March.

Travel Warnings. The State Department issues travel warnings to specific countries based on all relevant information, in order to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country.

Foreign Entry Requirements. The State Department provides a listing of the foreign entry requirements for every country. This includes information on passports, visas, immunizations, HIV testing, and any fees that may be required.
