The Office of Inspector General promotes the economy, efficiency, and effectiveness of
FDIC programs and operations and protects against fraud, waste, and abuse to assist and
augment the FDIC's contribution to the stability of, and public confidence in the nation's
financial systems.
Examples of wrongdoing that should be
reported include: contract and procurement fraud or collusion; misuse, embezzlement, or
theft of government property or funds; bribery and acceptance of gratuities; gross
employee misconduct; conflicts of interest; or other unethical or illegal activities.
Individuals may report information openly, anonymously or confidentially.
Individuals who contact the Inspector
General Hotline via electronic mail are not anonymous to Hotline staff and cannot be
