Analyzes water, soil, and plant tissue samples from several Watershed Ecosystem Studies sites including: Fraser Experimental Forest, Colorado; Noatak National Preserve and Denali National Park and Preserve, Alaska; Sequoia National Park, California; Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado; and Isle Royale National Park and Lake Superior Basin, Michigan. Results from ion chromatography, wet chemistry, and C-N analyzer are essential in understanding the potential effects of climate change on ecosystem nutrient cycling and of atmospheric contaminant inputs and the structure and functioning of ecosystems. Other laboratory analyses are performed for research being conducted by the USDA Forest Service, USDI Park Service, and the USDI Fish and Wildlife Service.
