Making
Government Accessible - Online
Read the Federal
Computer Week article and learn how the E-Training Initiative's
philosophy and process in developing the Gov Online Learning
Center helped to achieve high marks on a recent Federal Computer
Week evaluation regarding accessibility. The Gov Online Learning
Center was a part of a recent evaluation conducted by Federal
Computer Week and SSB Technologies Inc. to evaluate the degree
to which a select sampling of the e-Government Initiatives
were accessible to people with disabilities, as required by
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

New Opportunities on GoLearn
There are new learning opportunities at the Gov
Online Learning Center (GoLearn). Telework Courses such
as Telework
101 for Employees and Telework
101 for Managers provide tips and resources for making
decisions to participate in or to implement Telework. The courses
contain the basic concepts about telework, such as the definition,
types, benefits, and success factors for employees and managers.
Each course takes about an hour to complete and is listed in
GoLearn's Free Catalog under the Legislatively
Mandated and Agency Required Topics.
Federal Voting Assistance Program Training Courses
If you are a civilian or military personnel requiring training
in assisting citizens covered by the Uniformed and Overseas
Citizens Absentee Voting Act, GoLearn
has two free courses available for you --- Federal
Voting Assistance Program Training – Military and Federal
Voting Assistance Program Training Civilian.
Each course takes about an hour to complete and is listed in
GoLearn's Free catalog under the Legislatively
Mandated and Agency Required Topics. |

E-Training initiative received the 2003
Government Technology Leadership Award in recognition of
the successful implementation of the GOLEARN.gov program, which
makes online, cutting-edge educational opportunities available
to federal employees across the globe. |

Office of Personnel Management's
e-Training Initiative and GoLearn Team received the
2003 Training Officers Conference (TOC) Annual Distinguished
Service Awards. The Distinguished Service Awards Program
was launched by the Training Officers Conference in 1955 to
stimulate improved government-sponsored training programs through
recognition of individuals making significant contributions
to the Federal training community in the field of human resource
development (training, education, and development). TOC recognizes
outstanding training professionals who used creative and innovative
approaches to achieve performance results through training.

award for innovations
in e-Government during the E-Gov 2003 Conference and Exposition
in June 2003. |

E-Training initiative received the Showcase of Excellence award
at the FOSE 2003 conference in Washington on April 9, 2003.
The award recognizes projects that improve the quality of services
delivered to the citizen and promote inter or intra agency collaboration
