*The data included in the Department of Energy's Fuel Economy Guide are the result of vehicle testing done at the Environmental Protection Agency's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Michigan and by vehicle manufacturers themselves with oversight by EPA. All of the data files are comma delimited text files for import into database or spreadsheet tables. The 1998, and 1999, are also available as an excel spreadsheet. The data files have been compressed. A utility such as PKUNZIP can be used to decompress the files.

**Recent editions of the Fuel Economy Guide are provided as Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Any PDF file can be downloaded, viewed on screen, and printed using the Adobe Acrobat Reader software. This free software can be downloaded from the Adobe Web site. Installation and setup instructions are provided on this site.
