Overview
The
United
States
Coast
Guard
is
a
military,
multimission,
maritime
service
and
one
of
the
nations
five
Armed
Services.
Its
mission
is
to
protect
the
public,
the
environment,
and
U.S.
economic
interests
in
the
nations
ports
and
waterways,
along
the
coast,
on
international
waters,
or
in
any
maritime
region
as
required
to
support
national
security.
Today,
the
Coast
Guard
will:

million
in
property
- Interdict

illegal
migrants
at
sea
- Conduct

search
and
rescue
cases
- Seize
$10.7
million worth
of
illegal
drugs
- Respond
to

and
hazardous
chemical
spills
- Board
and inspect 138 vessels
