Marion L. Jones of Keller, Texas – Ms. Jones made history at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 when she became the first female track and field athlete to win five medals at a single Olympics (Gold in the 100m, 200m and the 4x400m relay and Bronze in the long jump and 4x100m relay).  En route to her Olympic glory, she became a five-time world champion in the 100m (1997, 1999), 200m (2001), and the 4x100m (1997, 2001).  The former college basketball star who, as a point guard at North Carolina University led her team to the NCAA title in her first year of college ball, was voted Women's Athlete of the Year by Track & Field News in 1997, 1998 and 2000, won the 1999 and 2000 Jesse Owens International Trophy Award, and was named the 2000 AP and USOC Female Athlete of the Year.  Ms. Jones is also the only athlete, male or female, to ever win the International Amateur Athletics Federation's Athlete of the Year award three times.
