Bunning Secures Buyout For Kentucky’s Tobacco Farm Families As Part Of The Jobs Act Conference Report
WASHINGTON - As a member of the House-Senate Conference Committee, U.S. Senator Jim Bunning today helped secure a long overdue buyout for Kentucky’s tobacco farmers in the final conference report to the Jumpstart Our Business Strength (JOBS) Act. Senator Bunning presents a Department of Interior grant check of $250,000 to the Metropolitan Hotel Project.  Bunning helped to secure this funding in the FY04 Department of Interior’s Appropriations Bill.

Senator Jim Bunning attended the groundbreaking for I-66.  Bunning has worked closely with the United States Department of Transportation in getting the funds needed for this important transportation project.

Senator Jim Bunning was accompanied by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Deputy Secretary Roy E. Bernardi in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly completed properties that are part of the Georgetown Street and Lexington Housing Authority HOPE VI Revitalization.

Senator Jim Bunning and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist visited the VA hospital on Zorn Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky.  In April, Bunning introduced legislation that will allow the Commonwealth’s Department of Veterans Affairs to buy or lease the hospital and use it as a nursing home.  In July the Senate Veterans Committee, which Bunning is a member of, passed the measure.
