Planning Subcommittee

Planning subcommittees are being formed to assist in the carrying out specific tasks for the January 24-28, 2000"Partnerships for Health in the New Millennium" conference. To join one of these subcommittees contact Miryam C. We anticipate one conference call every few weeks. These subcommittees will report to the full planning committee. First Report is scheduled for March 18, 1999, at the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel, Jefferson Room in Arlington, VA. The Hotel is located on South Eads between 15th and 18th Street and one block from Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway). We thank you in advance for your willingness to participate.

1. General Sessions, Plenary, and Keynote Addresses: Recommend the content of the general sessions, and suggested formats. Identify and help recruit presenters for the conference.

2. Breakout Sessions, Poster Sessions, Caucuses: Develop an abstract form to solicit proposals. This includes identifying the criteria for selection of these sessions and caucuses. Assist in disseminating the abstracts, reviewing the submissions and recommending those for selection. This subcommittee will advise on the scheduling of these sessions and caucuses. The sessions and caucuses could be focused according to population groups, as well as settings, i.e. cities, states, homes, workplace, schools, businesses etc.

Special Events: Assist in designing and choosing entertainment for the opening of the conference and other special events throughout the meeting, such as the physical activity programs in the mornings. This subcommittee’s will assist in planning and selecting the menus for the meals at the meeting. 6.
