508 and You - Federal Employee

Successful implementation of Section 508 requires the support of each and every federal employee who is involved in the design, development, procurement, or use of electronic and information technology (EIT). All federal employees should understand the requirements of Section 508 and how they may apply to their business operations and processes. To find out more about what your agency is doing, contact your Section 508 Coordinator.

In addition, there may be times, depending upon your position, when you will play an active role in ensuring that the requirements of Section 508 are met. These include any time you are requesting the purchase of any electronic and information technology (link to a definition) or involved in the design of system requirements, or development of web pages and their content. Specific roles applying to the implementation of Section 508 are listed below. Click on a title to gain more information on the responsibilities and resources available to assist a person assigned to these roles in the process.
