About GSA
e-Tools Agency Asset Management System

The primary goal of the Agency Asset Management System (AAMS) is to simplify and improve internal screening. GSA has achieved this end by:

  • Eliminating duplicate data entry;
  • Reducing paperwork;
  • Increasing federal agency reutilization; and
  • Eliminating the need for agency personal property systems development.

AAMS is a module of GSA's screening system which provides internal agency screening and redistribution to authorized agency users. The system was first developed in coordination with the Department of Energy (DOE). GSA has also worked with the Department of Commerce (DOC) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to customize AAMS modules for their needs.

Agencies can use AAMS to report, select, and transfer excess personal property exclusively within the DOC and VA. At the end of the internal screening cycle, any property still available is either returned to the agency, or is automatically passed to the Federal Disposal System (FEDS) where other federal and state agencies can locate available excess or surplus property and compete for it via GSAXcess®. For further information, contact Larry Olmsted, DOC, lolmsted@doc.gov or Linnie Baker, VA, linnie.baker@mail.va.gov.
