Bolling Federal Building

The Richard Bolling Federal Building is a nineteen story high-rise office building built in 1965. The building was dedicated and named for Congressman Richard Bolling, whose district representation spanned thirty years. The 1.2 million gross square foot building houses approximately 4,000 customer employees. The building which is located at 601 East 12th Street provides a total of 124 structured parking spaces, at the ground and sub-basement levels. An additional 432 surface parking spaces are located directly to the east of the building at 701 East 12th Street.

It is the major federal building in the Kansas City Metro area and is located in the Kansas City, Missouri, Central Business District (CBD).

The Kansas City North Field Office is responsible for the daily operations of the Richard Bolling Federal Building.

General Building Information

Hours of Operation

The Richard Bolling Federal Building is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  All employees and visitors must present a valid form of identification and pass screening before being granted access into the building. Those who are visiting the building only have access to public areas.

Parking 

The building provides a total of 124 structured parking spaces, at the ground and sub-basement levels, with an additional 432 surface spaces located directly east of the building at 701 East 12th Street. All parking facilities are secured and monitored by the Federal Protective Service.

Tenant Board Meetings  

Those agencies within the Richard Bolling Federal Building comprise a Tenant Board. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the Mural Conference Room, N133. GSA encourages participation in these meetings as various building issues are discussed.

Southern Food Service Cafeteria

Location: East Ground Floor
Hours: Monday – Friday
Breakfast: 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Lunch: 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

The Southern Food Service cafeteria offers a variety of appetizing entrees made to order to suit all appetites. Tenants can arrive early at the Sunrise Café and order tasty menu items from good old-fashioned bacon and eggs to breakfast quesadillas. During lunch, tenants can stroll through the Global Market and sample a variety of foods from around the world.  If they are in the mood for an American creation, the American Grille offers traditional burgers and fries and barbeque to satisfy that down home desire. Also, a variety of soups, side dishes, and a-la-carte items are available daily. 

Cherry Street Café

Location: Room N110
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Mazuma Credit Union

Location:  Room N149
Hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Services including loans, investments, checking, savings, and money market accounts, credit, payroll deductions and direct deposit allow the Mazuma Credit Union to provide high-quality financial services and education aimed at improving the financial well-being of its members. 

Kansas City Area Credit Union

Location: Room G32
Hours:  Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The Kansas City Area Credit Union offers services including, but not limited to, checking and savings accounts, IRA’s, direct deposit, payroll deductions and check cashing, traveler’s cheques, U.S. savings bonds, loans, discount tickets, notary services and Western Union services.

LIFE Fitness Center

Location: Room 157
Hours: Monday – Thursday,  9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Providing free-weight training, machine-weight training, nutrition classes, chair massages, and aerobics classes, the LIFE Fitness Center is a local alternative to another gym. New members can expect a quick-entry to the program and even exercise the same day they join.  Comprehensive health screenings and free blood work are available to employees of participating agencies. If you are new to the workout world, personal fitness programs and thorough orientations are available. Showers and towel services are also available.

Corporate Kids 601

Location: Room 146
Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Welcoming children from six weeks to five years, Corporate Kids 601 is a licensed early education center and pre-school.  Offering priority status for all federal employees, the daycare maintains a small student/teacher ratio and employs staff with credentials in early childhood development. The teachers utilize a tailored developmental curriculum for the children and even offer individual services to children with special needs. The facilities are creative, colorful and exceed all requirements for the department of health and fire safety.  Corporate Kids 601 is a non-profit center where all funds raised return to improve the center and its services to the children.

Federal Occupational Health Clinic

Location: Suite 901
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Closed: Monday – Friday, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Patients of the Federal Occupational Health Clinic are treated with professionalism, care and genuine concern. Services include, but are not limited to, walk-in appointments, immunizations, basic site visits, health education programs, ongoing health screenings, and individual health counseling. Specialty services of the clinic also include wellness/fitness programs, medical surveillance, clearance exams and other consultation services. All emergencies, regardless of individual circumstances, will be triaged. No patients will be refused needed care.

Don’s Barber Shop

Location: G – 1
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Don’s Barber Shop offers haircuts and styling for Bolling building tenants as well as neighboring customers.

Shoe Master

Location: Ground floor (Across from Cafeteria)
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday,  8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Shoe Master offers shoe and boot shining, including leather conditioning of, but not limited to, purses, coats and hats. Shoe Master will also repair your shoes and leather goods with a quick turn around.
