The Des Moines Federal Building is located at 210 Walnut Street, Des Moines, Iowa, and is home to the Iowa Field Office.

General Building Information

Hours of Operation

The Federal Building public hours are 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Visitors are required to enter through the North Entrance of the building.  Visitors must have a valid picture ID to gain entrance to the building and are required to submit to a security screening process.

Parking

The Federal Building has parking in the City of Des Moines Parking Ramp located directly to the South of the building.  There is on-street parking at meters and various locations for monthly parking available in the vicinity.

Building Amenities

Walnut Café

The Walnut Café is located on the 6th floor of the Federal Building.  Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for lunch.  The Café remains open until 3:00 p.m. 

Snack Bar

The Snack Bar is located on the 1st Floor in the Northeast corner.  Hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.  The Snack Bar is primarily a vending operation with various pop machines, candy/snack machines and change machines.  The Snack Bar also sells newspapers and returns deposits on pop cans.  The Iowa Commission for the Blind is responsible for both the 1st floor and 6th floor vending services.

Federal Employees Credit Union

The Federal Employees Credit Union is located on the 1st floor, Room 132 and the hours of operation are between 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday.  The Credit Union is open to all Federal Employees and offers a full line of services.

USDA Credit Union

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Credit Union is located on the 9th floor, Room 927, with the hours of operation 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday.  This credit union is open to only USDA employees and also offers a full line of services.
