Federal Technology Service Federal Technology Service Overview

The mission of GSA's Federal Technology Service (FTS) is to deliver best value and innovative solutions in Information Technology (IT), Network Services, and Professional Services to support government agency missions worldwide.

GSA/FTS works with agency customers to understand their missions and requirements, and to help them choose, acquire, implement, and manage the funding for the best solutions to meet those needs.  GSA/FTS assisted services save taxpayer dollars, make it possible for customer agencies to avoid doing costly, time-consuming technology acquisitions, and enable them to devote more of their own staffs directly to their agency missions and programs.

GSA/FTS works closely with every major civilian and federal government agency offering assisted acquisition services on a fee-for-service basis to its clients to include:

  • Development of the RFP package
  • Development of the Acquisition Strategy and Options
  • Conducting the Acquisition
  • Signing Contracting Documents
  • Providing Legal Support, if Necessary
  • Acting as COTR on each task order
  • Management of Milestones, Schedules, Costs
  • Problem Resolution
  • Financial Management

Network Services

The Network Services business line aggregates and leverages the government’s buying power to obtain the full range of end to end telecommunications products and services including global voice, data, and video services, supporting both local users (Regional Services Business Unit) and long-distance users (Long Distance Business Unit). Through contracts providing long distance, local service, wireless communications, technical and management support services, international calling, wire and cable, satellite equipment and services, Internet access and more, GSA/FTS Network Services offers comprehensive telecommunications at the lowest aggregate prices available to achieve significant savings to the government. Both business units assist customer agencies in defining requirements, identifying solutions, ordering services, and managing the ongoing provision of services, including billing operations.

IT Solutions Business Line

The GSA/FTS IT Solutions business line assists federal agencies in identifying technology solutions, and acquiring, deploying, managing and using them. FTS Client Support Centers (Regional IT Solutions and National IT Solutions), select from GSA fully competed, national, multiple award contracts and other government wide sources, including GSA Schedules, to identify and acquire best value solutions to meet customer needs.

Professional Services Business Line

The Office of Professional Services (PS) business line provides acquisition, project management, procurement support and financial management services on a cost reimbursable basis, to assist federal agencies in acquiring a range of Professional Services via three specific GSA Multiple Award Schedules. The schedules include Management Organization and Business Improvement (MOBIS), Logistics (LOGWORLD), and Professional Engineering Services (PES).
