Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director (Currently interviewing candidates)
The Executive Assistant will organize, manage and oversee all aspects of the operations of the Office of the Deputy Director; serve as the Laboratory’s Visa contact person; act as Foreign National Coordinator; keep and maintain accurate records of the research staff including bibliographies, resumes and applications for national and international awards; schedule and organize complex activities such as internal and external meetings and travel arrangements; perform the role of records management coordinator for the Director’s Office; and set up web pages as needed in support of the Director’s Office.
Qualifications include: a high school diploma or equivalent, 5 or more years
of successful administrative experience, ability to handle multiple assignments,
strong communication and organizational skills and a high level of interpersonal
skills to handle a variety of situations and the ability to exercise prudent
judgment. Must have an intermediate level of computer skills including knowledge
of: Macintosh, PC, Microsoft Office, Internet, email, databases and the creation
of simple web pages.

Compensation Analyst -Full-time, 6 months position with Benefits (Currently accepting resumes)
Reporting to and working with the Director of Human Resources, the Compensation
Analyst will help in the planning, administration and implementation of job
evaluations, and wage and salary compensation programs within established guidelines
of the organizations. Review classification and compensation changes, provide
guidance and make recommendations. Analyzes compensation surveys to determine
compensation trends sponsored by other companies.
Job Requirements:
• Technical expertise and solid knowledge of compensation concepts, practices
and procedures
• Evaluate and analyze salary data
• Coordinate salary planning and implementation process
• Conduct market analysis and job evaluations
• Advises management on pay issues and recommends solutions
• Functions as a resource for upper management

Head of Theory Department (Currently
accepting applications/interviewing candidates)
The PPPL Theory Department provides theoretical and computational capabilities
to help the U.S. Fusion Energy Sciences program develop the scientific foundations
for establishing fusion as an attractive, technically feasible energy option.
The Department helps generate the theoretical physics knowledge required for
realistic extrapolation of present experimental results and suggests new approaches
to improve the confinement properties of fusion-grade plasmas.
Reporting to the Director of the Laboratory, the Head of the Theory Department
will cultivate and maintain highly productive working relationships between
theory and experimental projects, advanced computing, Laboratory management,
as well as collaborating with international and national plasma physics institutions,
Princeton University, DOE and NSF. This involves the strategic planning, development
and establishment of objectives for theoretical research in accordance with
the best scientific as well as organizational goals. In addition, the Head of
the Theory Department is responsible for effectively managing projects, budgets
and progress in research.
The candidate for this position should be a distinguished internationally recognized
expert in plasma theory with a strong publication record. Additionally, must
have demonstrated leadership, management and communication skills.

Clerical Aide/Expeditor (Currently screening resumes)
In addition to general office duties, the incumbent will provide clerical and logistical support to the Procurement Division staff and the Head of Business Operations. The Clerical Aide/Expeditor will prepare publication copies of requests for quotations and orders from buyer drafts; edit, prepare and distribute final copies of correspondence and other documents from drafts; expedite purchase orders and follow up with vendors, buyers, accounting representatives, receiving personnel and end users to ensure timely receipt of ordered goods and services; document and maintain files; and provide timely expediting and other workload status information to management, buyers and requisitioners.
A successful candidate will possess initative, exercise good judgment, strong communications and interpersonal skills; have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. A high school diploma is required, an Associate degree is preferred. Candidate must be proficient in using Microsoft Office software.
