Interim Report Instructions
Prepare a Phase II Progress Report ensuring that all
information is provided. A Phase II Progress Report has the following components:
1. A Phase II Report Cover Page
2. Milestone Information
3. A technical narrative (not to exceed 5 pages)
The report must be submitted using the following components
of the FastLane Reporting module.
- Click on Participants and Click on "Continue" - List
those participating on the project. Basic information about each person who
worked on the project is required:
- Name of Individuals
- Role played on the project
- Extent of time put in on the project
- What the person has done on the project
- Click on"Save and Continue" or "No change"
- Click on Activities and Findings and Click on "Continue"
- Click on "Attach Activities PDF File"
- Upload a PDF file containing the Project Milestone
Information to the section requesting information on research and education
activities. A "blank" project milestone information template is available
for your convenience (Blank Milestone Information). The following information
is required to successfully complete the milestone chart:
- reporting period dates
- total estimated expenditures
- cumulative estimated expenditures
- level of effort in person-months by the PI and key
personnel during the six month period
- level of effort by consultants and subawardees during
a six month period
- permanent equipment and/or major purchases or supplies
during the six month period.
- Click on "Attach Findings PDF File"
- Upload a 3-5 page narrative to the section requesting
major findings. The narrative must contain:
- Details about progress during the reporting period.
(Include a brief description of each task worked on during the reporting
period.)
- Problems encountered during the reporting period.
(If none, so state.)
- Status of commercialization activities this reporting
period. (If none, so state.)
The remaining two components (listed below)
may be used if a company has information to report.
- Click on Publications and Products (if applicable)
(report scientific articles or papers appearing in scientific, technical,
or professional journals. Include any publication that will be published
in a proceedings of a scientific society, a conference, or the like.
Report any significant product, other than a publication (or electronic publication)
that you have developed under this project.)
- Click on Contributions (if applicable) (a primary
function of NSF support for research and education -- along with training
of people -- is to help build a base of knowledge, theory, and technique in
the relevant fields. That base will be drawn on many times and far into
the future, often in ways that cannot be specifically predicted. to meet the
needs of the nation and of people. Most NSF-supported research and education
projects should be producing contributions to the base of knowledge and technique
in the immediately relevant field(s).)
