About the Vessel Status Cards

The MARAD Vessel Status Cards System is a product of the Maritime Administration's Office of Statistical and Economic Analysis. It contains the complete Maritime Administration file of U.S. Flag Vessel Status Cards since 1920 (over 10,000), which has been transferred to both database (since 1995) and image format (before 1995). These vessel records can be viewed and printed on this website.

The information contained on each card includes: vessel name, official number, vessel type, deadweight tons, gross registered tons, net registered tons, hull number, shipbuilder, date built, operator, dates of operator change, vessel renames and other memo type information.

The Office of Statistical and Economic Analysis serves as the focal point for statistical information within the Maritime Administration. The Office is responsible for the development, maintenance and dissemination of maritime trade, vessel and related data.

Free Vessel Search is available by contacting us and is limited to two vessel names per customers.

The website is updated as the information becomes available.
