Best Workplaces for CommutersSM is
supported through a partnership between the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). Both
agencies are working closely together to promote the program throughout
the country.
EPA is taking a leadership role in the following areas:
- Providing public recognition to employers who meet the program's National
Standard of Excellence.
- Working with supporters to develop successful regional/metro
area campaigns.
- Developing a Web-based tool that will enable employers to assess
the overall financial, environmental, and traffic impacts of their
organization's commuter benefits.
- Developing promotional and informational materials for participating
organizations.
DOT is taking a leadership role in the following areas:
- Offering expertise on transportation choices, services, and advanced
transportation information systems and services.
- Contributing a network of established relationships with state
transportation offices and transit companies.
EPA and DOT are working together in the following areas:
- Recruiting participants to join and support the program.
- Developing an American Management Association training course
to help employee benefit managers implement commuter benefits.
- Providing technical assistance and resources to program participants.
- Creating opportunities for participants to network and exchange
ideas about commuter benefit programs.
EPA and DOT jointly own the servicemark "Best Workplaces for
CommutersSM" and "Commuter Choice®." For
