COURSE

The NPC-50 will be run at the U. S. Secret Service Training Center in Laurel, MD. Runners will follow a flat, fast, five-kilometer (3.1 mile) loop course on an asphalt surface. All ten team members will run the same course, one after the other.

This year we will introduce the STAGGERED START. Last year’s team captains were overwhelmingly in favor of changing to this format.

All Leg #1 runners will start together at 8:30am.
All Leg #2 runners start together at 8:45 am.
Leg #3 – 9:00am
Leg #4 – 9:15am
Leg #5 – 9:30am
Leg #6 – 9:45am
Leg #7 – 10:00am
Leg #8 – 10:15am
Leg #9 – 10:30am
Leg #10 – 10:45am

Each team’s official time will be the cumulative total of all 10 runners’ times. There will no longer be a baton exchange. This should provide a more exciting and competitive race, as well as a shorter overall time span.
