IC employees can be found working throughout the nation, from Washington, DC to San Diego, CA, and around the globe, from Paris to Hong Kong. Depending upon the particular member organization and the particular occupation, IC personnel are found working in headquarters buildings, in federal buildings situated in major cities, and in non-disclosed world-wide field sites.

Most IC headquarters buildings are in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Within the city’s borders are found headquarters for the Departments of State, Energy, and Treasury and the FBI. DIA and many of the Defense intelligence entities are based in or around the Pentagon or elsewhere in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. A 24-mile drive into Maryland will bring you to the home of the NSA, and you’ll find the CIA and NRO in Virginia. NGA has locations in both Maryland and Virginia.
