These are proposed regulations which are intended to improve and expedite the current process for auditing State and local IV-D programs by consolidating the criteria evaluated during the course of an audit and making other changes to the current requirements to allow flexibility in the audit approach. These changes are being proposed in order to simplify the current audit process, to ensure the initiation of audits as close as possible to the time period audited, and to shorten the elapsed from audit initiation to issuance of a final report.
