Joseph Aiuppa was connected to John Dillinger and the Alvin Karpis gangs in the 1930's and was a member of the Al Capone mob. He was associated with gambling activities and allegedly ran prostitution along the strip in Cicero, IL. He attended school until third grade and then left school. He was convicted in 1960 for failing to register as a dealer in gambling devices, receiving a sentence of one year and one day. He owned and/or operated several lounges or clubs in the Cicero area and was a partner in a company that built and distributed slot machines. He was a avid hunter and was arrested in 1962 for having approximately 500 game birds (doves) in his possession on his return from a hunting trip to Kansas. The limit was 24 game birds.
