Letter 172, dated June 1995, notified credit unions of the revised Currency Transaction Report (CTR) Form 4789. Use of the revised form is effective October 1, 1995.

The Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has provided the enclosed paper for filers of the new CTR. It is titled "Guidance On The New Currency Transaction Report (CTR)." As the enclosure suggests, it is not meant to be comprehensive and does not replace the CTR Form instructions and/or the regulations.
