Fourth Annual NCUA Budget Briefing and
Public Forum Set for October 12

September 15, 2004 Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) announced today that the agency’s fourth annual Budget Briefing and Public Forum is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. in the Alexandria headquarters Board room. Conducted by NCUA Executive Director Len Skiles, the briefing will introduce the proposed 2005 budget to stakeholders and invite public input and comment.

When: 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. – October 12, 2004

“The NCUA maintains its steadfast commitment to transparency as we prepare and develop the agency’s 2005 budget,” said NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson. “We value the input from those we regulate and insure, as NCUA’s budget has an impact on credit unions. Looking forward to the opportunities and challenges of 2005, we once again welcome the opportunity to share NCUA’s budget plans and hear from our stakeholders. I believe it is vital for NCUA’s stakeholders to have an open, complete view of the proposed budget.”

NCUA Board members and senior staff will attend the presentation. Following established format, the Budget Briefing and Public Forum will once again have a period designated to hear oral statements from our stakeholders.

Public and credit union community members who wish to make oral statements pertaining to the proposed budget should contact the Secretary of the Board to register. Each registered participant is accorded up to 10 minutes for an oral statement.

Requests to speak should be captioned “Budget Briefing and Public Forum – Request to Participate” and must be received by Oct. 7. Because of time restraints, NCUA reserves the right to select witnesses; however, the agency will make every effort to accommodate all requests and ensure a broad range of views.

Participants preferring to provide written comments may file them with the Secretary of the Board captioned “Budget Briefing and Public Forum – Comment.” Written comments may be received before, during or after the forum, but must be received no later than Nov. 12 to be considered.
