Science Education Partnership Award

Science Education Partnership Awards (SEPA) are designed to improve life science literacy throughout the Nation. These grants bring together biomedical and behavioral researchers, educators, community groups, and other interested organizations in partnerships to create and disseminate programs that give K-12 students and teachers and the general public a better understanding of life sciences. The NCRR Division for Clinical Research Resources (DCRR) supports the SEPA Program, which funds science centers and museums across the country. Several academic institutions have formed partnerships with these science centers and museums, which use their information networks to develop stationary and traveling exhibits on fundamental biology and related topics.

Researchers who study human disease and illness can make major contributions to science education programs by passing on their knowledge and also demonstrating the excitement of carrying out health-related research. SEPA funding provides researchers the vehicle for conveying both their knowledge and appreciation of scientific accomplishments.
