The Brown?s Mills Dam on the Piscataquis River has been identified as having severely limited upstream and downstream passage of Atlantic salmon. The privately owned dam is FERC exempt and it is unlikely that fish passage will be improved as a condition of ownership or operation. Other assistance will be needed to plan and fund the installation of adequate fish passage conditions.
