OAK SPRINGS HATCHERY.
Summary Description: Improve the Oak Springs Hatchery by providing an additional water supply, building an addition to the hatchery building, four new concrete rearing ponds, and water water treatment. Cover fish ponds with netting.
Background: The Hood River Production protect is part of the Council's program designed to use artificial production to enhance populations of Chinook salmon and steelhead. In 1991 the Council approved a master plan for Hood River which included facilities needed to implement the project.
Milestones: Improve the Oak Springs Hatchery. Provide an additional water supply system, rearing facilities, bird netting over ponds, etc. Construct the Hatchery Building Addition with waste water treatment, four new concrete rearing ponds. Contract 1997BI35215 for $695,334 was issued in 1997. Mod 1 added $1,068,413 in 1998. Mod 2 was a no cost time extension in1999. Mod 3 added $129,392 in 1999. Mod 4 was a no-cost time extension in 1999. Mod 5 was a no cost time extension in 2000. The contract was completed and closed in 2000.
