Location: CLEARWATER basin, including sites listed below.
CLEARWATER RIVER, NORTH FORK, DEER CREEK (CLEARWATER), DWORSHAK RESERVOIR, MUD SPRINGS POND, MUD SPRINGS POND, TALMACKS POND, TALMACKS POND.

Summary Description: Complete emergency repair of two existing trout ponds and commence site inventory, design and construction of up to 12 additional fish ponds on the Nez Perce Reservation. Continue O&M; of facilities.

Background: Provide resident fish substitution for areas lost above Dworshak Reservoir. This project will provide emergency repair on two existing ponds on the reservation. The next phase will conduct site and feasibility work to site new rearing ponds for resident fish production.

Milestones: The following were completed by 1997: Talmaks Reservoir renovation (drain system repair, silt removal, dam heightening, and silt retention pond construction); Mud Springs Dam spillway installation; rainbow trout stocking; surveying the Mud springs fishery, and: potential new pond site identification. A Mud springs fishery survey was conducted from May through Sept. 1996. The contract 39757 was completed and closed in 1997. Work is continuing under a master agreement contract 30423 task order 93952. TBL contract 1997TX30113 taskorder 10022 for $4200 covering gathering floodplain and wetland plant information and determining permits required was issued in 1998. Mod 1 was an appraisal for the Deer Creek Property for $6,152. It was issued in 1999. Accomplishments: 1997 Completed restoration of the Talmaks Reservoir fishery. 1998 Completed restoration of Mud Springs Reservoir fishery. Identified Cold Springs and Deer Creek fishery sites.
